Milan, 7th May 2025 – The United Nations SDG Action Campaign presents “Parallel Realities”, the first UN Pavilion at the Triennale Milano International Exhibition.

Parallel Realities is more than an art exhibition—it’s a call to action for more equal societies. It is an immersive space where Uğur Gallenkuş’s work, showcasing fractures in our societies, inspires possibilities for transformation. The Pavilion mirrors the journey from awareness to action on inequalities that are destabilizing humanity. Systemic inequality remains one of the world’s great challenges, deeply rooted in historical and structural barriers that perpetuate exclusion across societies.

The Parallel Realities Pavilion begins with Uğur Gallenkuş’s compelling collages that explore the stark global divide between privilege and oppression. Uğur Gallenkuş’s collages weave together the themes of economic inequality and exclusion, climate injustice and food insecurity, and gender inequality, offering a raw and unflinching perspective on the complexities of human experience. Each collage serves as a powerful commentary on the fractured state of human societies and the urgent need for systemic change. Systemic inequality remains, in fact, one of the great challenges of the world, deeply rooted in historical and structural barriers that perpetuate exclusion in societies.

Parallel Realities is not just an exhibition; it is an urgent call to rethink the systems that perpetuate inequalities in the world,” says Marina Ponti, the Global Director of the UN SDG Action Campaign. “This Pavilion is a demonstration of the power of art, storytelling, and collective action in addressing the most pressing issues of our time.”

“Through my collages, I aim to make the invisible visible—to juxtapose the privilege of some against the suffering of others,” says Uğur Gallenkuş, the artist featured at the Pavilion. “Parallel Realities is a powerful reminder of the interconnectedness of our worlds and the need for empathy to drive change.”

The journey continues with the Hope in Action segment where visitors meet the changemakers through multimedia storytelling. The changemakers advocate for equality and justice around the world showing the possibilities for hope and transformation. The Pavilion ends with an invitation to take action through the UN Act Now platform, where visitors can join the growing global movement for a more sustainable and equal tomorrow.

In the Parallel Realities Pavilion art transitions to hope that drives action, and action unlocks possibility, showing that the world we envision is within reach. Through its design and narrative flow, the Pavilion mirrors the journey from acknowledgment of systemic inequalities to hopeful action, reinforcing a core message: Together, we choose hope. Together, we act. Together, we create a future where no one is left behind.

The 24th Triennale Milano International Exhibition

The 24th Triennale Milano International Exhibition, entitled Inequalities (13th May – 9th November 2025), is dedicated to the issue of the growing inequalities that characterize cities and the contemporary world. Through a constellation of exhibitions, installations, special projects and public program events, the International Exhibition questions the global challenges related to the differences present in various spheres of existence: from economic to ethnic, from geographic origin to gender. Personalities from the world of art, design, architecture, collectives, cultural institutions, museums and research institutes from around the world are called upon to reflect on the chosen theme with the aim of mapping inequalities and identifying the most advanced political projects for a society in which differences are a resource and a value to be recomposed into new forms of community.
